Discontinued

Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation and Smudge Sticks in Mint Julep and Violet. The Smudge Sticks are becoming my second favorite eye liner next to UD 24/7 Glide-ons. Mint Julep and Violet are discontinued, but the Smudge Sticks are still on the website; and the Illuminating Liquid Foundation makes my skin look so refreshed. I also found the Too Faced Melted Metallic in Bunny.  I’m not sure why the Melted Metallics are getting discontinued. I randomly found these at TJ MAXX and Marshalls. I went back to check Stila and Too Faced website sale section and didn’t find the shades.

Permanent

Buxom Wildly Whipped Liquid Lipstick in Nudist and theBalm Beach Balm.

I was very late to post my September favorites, and since we are half way through October, I figured it would be better to combined them.

Colourpop

  • Muse and So Quiche Super Shock Eye Shadows
  • Ultra Satins in Dopey, Femme, and Point Zero

Muse, So Quiche, Dopey, Femme, and Point Zero are perfect for fall and my skin tone. I’m getting into bolder colors, and these shades are bolder compared to what I normally choose to wear.

Urban Decay

  • 8 hr After Glow Highlighter in Fireball (I never made a full review on this). Fireball works great for medium skin. It has peach and pink duochrome and catches the light.

Tarte

  • Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. It is in a loose powder matte formula. I use this for baking under my eyes and setting my makeup.  There are days were I do not want to wear foundation. This powder offers enough coverage I can wear it alone without foundation.

A collection of my favorite products for the month of August featuring Too Faced, Buxom, and Kat Von D ?

First up palettes from Kat Von D Shade+Light Contour and Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

The Bon Bons palette is great for year round. The matte shadows make great transition and crease colors. I plan on making this my fall palette because of the warm chestnut and other brown shades.

The Shade + Light Contour is ideal for beginners. The formula is powder with three highlights and three contour shades including a small guide. I use all three highlighters and the first two contour shades. The third one is too dark for my skin.

Next, Urban Decay Moondust Eye shadow in Solstice.

I took a break from UD but couldn’t pass up the moondust eye shadow in Solstice. I never did a full review on it since there is not too much to talk about. The best way I can describe this eye shadow is a pressed pigment packed with multi-color shimmer. I don’t often wear pigments. From youtube tutorials on pigments, the best way to make the pigment stay put is by spraying the eye shadow brush with some setting spray. UD came out with some new Moondust shades that have caught my attention.

Lastly, Full-on Lip Polishes in Brittany, Starr, and Gabby; swatches of Brittany and Starr.  I am a major fan of the Buxom lip polishes. They have 99 shades in total named after women. Brittany is the perfect nude shimmer and reminds me of that nude gloss JLO wears. Gabby and Starr are very different. Swatches and a review on Gabby and Brittany. I sometimes wear darker lip colors, and shades like Gabby and Starr bring a little bit of life into them and help tone them down if the shades are too dark. The Buxom lip glosses are fairly pigmented, smooth, and nourishing. I think Brittany, Starr, and Gabby are flattering with all sorts of colors.

Some of my loves from It Cosmetics, Colourpop, Zoya and Formulax, and NYX.

Face– It Cosmetics CC Illuminator and Colourpop Carry On Bronzer and Lunch Money Highlighter. When I wear all three together, I look very glowy and refreshed.

Nails– Zoya Tilly and Levi and Formulax Laws of Attraction. The shades are very sparkly and perfect for summer.

Lips– NYX Ombre Lip Duo in Ginger/Nutmeg. NYX Ombre Lip Duo is awesome. I’ve used it a few times and noticed  combined it looks mauve-brown. The color is so wearable and flattering with almost every makeup look, outfit, and for everyday use.

These are a few of my random everyday favorites. I don’t wear to much makeup, and living in a state where the weather is very unpredictable and often humid, makes it tricky trying to wear a ‘full face.’ Here are some easy everyday products I like using.

Eyes

  • Urban Decay Sidecar eye shadow
  • Korres Liners in shades 5 and 6 (they don’t have a direct name)

Face and Lips

  • MAC Stay Pretty blush
  • It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation
  • Skinn lip balm

At first it was tricky putting together and ‘everyday’ look with basic colors. Once I got the hang of it, I was able to select shades that help get me out of the house in a few minutes.

monthlyfavorites

Some of my random favorite products MAC Studio Fix, Earth Theraputics Blending Sponge, Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Fig (swatch), and Tarte Contour Brush. I’ve been using these products for several months now and greatly enjoy them.

My quick updated thoughts on:

  • MAC Studio Fix– When I first started with makeup in my teenage years, the first foundation/powder that worked with my skin was the MAC Studio Fix. I also own the concealer version of this which I love blending together with the powder. In 2015, I decided to repurchase it after trying many high-end and the so-called ‘holy grail’ pressed powders. Much to my surprise, the powder still works wonderfully leaving my skin looking matte and fresh without over doing the dewiness.
  • Earth Theraputics Blending Sponge– I purchased this twice. After a few months of use and wash, the sponge still kept its shape, softness, and color. Unlike the other blender dupes on the market, it does not hold in water. Kohls also carries the sponge in other versions on their website and in store.
  • Too Faced Melted Fig was from the November Sephora Haul. I’m becoming quite the fan of liquid lip colors.
  • Tarte Contour Brush was from one of those one time offer ‘build your own sets.’ The brush is super soft and perfect for my powders.

Apart of my 2015 annual round up of my favorite products,  are a few random lip balms I used this year. I randomly like collecting balms. My current favorites are EOS, Boot Bootanics, and Skinn Cosmetics.

  1.  EOS Lip Balm in Honeysuckle and Vanilla Mint $2.84 (Target)
  2. Boot Botanics Organic Lip Balm $5.99 (Target)
  3. Skinn Cosmetics Lip 6x Balm

All the balms made my lips soft and made it easier to remove dry skin. Botanics and Lip 6x Balm are a bit glossier and more quenching. Skinn lip balm worked the best out of all of them and is harder to get since it is not sold separately on the Evine website.

I often wear balms to prep my lips to make them softer and smoother before I apply lip color. I think balms are important before lip color because it helps the color wear, bleed less, and stay on much better.

I am not picky about balms and my lips react fairly well to any kind.

I have been wearing a variety of neutral makeup this year, so here are a few of my favorite products and colors for lips and nails.

Nude Lips

Colors:

Nails

Colors:

  • Tomoko (left)
  • Chantal (right)

I never expected myself to actually like neutral makeup. I am already aware that nudes can make a person look ‘dead’ or ‘washed out.’ These nudes work for my complexion. Many times, I do not wear the nudes on their own and mix them with other colors. When I go to mix them, I like mixing mauve and certain pink colors.

As far as the nails are concerned, I have to be a bit more careful to make sure the colors don’t blend with my skin. I layer nude polishes with colored top coats.

From the above products, my top recommendations are Chantal by Zoya, Naked lip gloss and Liar Glide-On, and Savvy. Chantal and Naked are my most reached for nudes when I can’t figure out what to wear.

mascaras
I have very strange lashes and a hard time finding mascara that makes it look like my lashes have more depth. My lashes are straight and light with a slight curl at the tip.  Currently, my new favorite mascaras are Benefit Roller Lash, Eyeko, Urban Decay Perversion, and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

My newest mascara try is the Benefit Roller Lash. Benefit mascaras are great for my lashes. Unlike the They’re Real and BADgal mascaras, the Roller Lash did not make my lashes hard or clump. BADgal and They’re Real did work to a certain point except I like the Roller Lash better. The Roller Lash is very soft and natural. I did see improvement with my lashes. The Roller Lash brush worked for my bottom lashes, too.

I used two of UD’s older mascaras before they came out with the Perversion line. Their other mascaras did not work, so I had no intention of trying the Perversion mascara. When I bought the Naked on the Run Palette it came with a deluxe size, and after a few uses, the Perversion mascara works better than the others ones. I had to use a little more effort, the mascara is not an intense black, and it offered some curl and length.

Too Faced Better Than Sex was with the Blogger Darlings kit. I’m still a bit doubtful if I want it full size. I wore this as my “everyday” mascara and it did show nice curl and pigment.

Eyeko is new to me. I found this line by accident from the HSN website on sale. I haven’t had a chance to do a full review or comparison with the Roller Lash because they both have the curved brush except Eyeko is fatter. I never heard of this line before, I decided to try it to hold me over.

I often repurchase mascaras if they work wonders for my lashes.
