I’ll provide links and a short description the best way I can of this edition of empties.

  Trader Joe’s

  • All in One Facial Cleanser– This is my ‘rotation’ cleanser. I purchase this once start needing cleanser and don’t feel like hunting for a new one. Benefits- removes makeup easily and is exceptionally potent.
  • Antioxidant Facial Serum (top photo L)- I was using the serum mixed with my makeup to add more nourishment to my skin. It has a citrus scent from the vitamin C but has no cooling effect like most serums.

I can’t find links to the products on the Trader Joe’s website. I think the prices vary at each store.

Skinn Cosmetics

I am the biggest Skinn Cosmetics fan. I have been satisfied with all my purchases and skin results. My Skinn empties were purchased from individual kits. I like the serums because they are so cooling, refreshing, and hydrating; the Pore Detox is a gentle scrub and ok; and the Olive & Enzyme Cleanser is the perfect cream for makeup removal.

The Eye Cream and Brightening Oil did work wonders for my skin but is pricey.

Hair Care

  • Paul Mitchel Super Skinny Hair Serum– I don’t review hair care products (I might start). The serum feels so good on my hair. I’ve purchased it twice. It smells good and isn’t oily or greasy.

I don’t plan on repurchasing any of these items. Korres and Skinn items were from value sets on Evine and HSN, and maybe I’ll end up with those again if they come in sets. I have nothing against Paul Mitchel, Korres, and Skinn, but my skin and hair routine continuously changes. During each change, I try other items from them to meet my current needs.

My small batch of empties featuring Adalou, Marc Jacobs, and China Glaze and Formula X Nail.

Andalou BB Skin perfecting Beauty Balm– Andalou line is a rare skin care line I was able to find at my local health food store. The Andalou BB Cream is universally flattering with SPF30. This past summer was a killer with 90degree weather. The BB was able to help nourish, protect, and moisturize my skin through the tough heat. The formula is a very light weight liquid that dries down completely matte. The BB was messy to apply even with a beauty sponge, and I did not like how it went on. Will I buy this again? I have mixed feelings and would only buy if it is on sale since I don’t find it worth $19.95.

Marc Jacobs Remedy Pen– At a time, my dark circles were always flaring up, so I needed to find a dark circle color correct and was directed to the Marc Jacobs Remedy Pen. The tip of the pen is silver and has the cooling effect to relax irritation. The pen felt good under my eyes and relaxed my dark circles. The coverage is generous. I needed about two clicks for each eye. I bough the Pen in April and it lasted me til September. Will I buy this again? Yes.

Nails– Formula X Nail Base Coat and China Glaze Fairy Dust. I’ve been repurchasing the Formula X Base Coat for the past year and want to hold off on getting it again. The Base Coat seriously protects my nails and helps the color stay put except I want a break form this for now. I bought a few polishes from China Glaze and Fairy Dust was one of them. Fairy Dust is a very pretty holographic top coat that adds life to duller colors. Will I buy the polishes again? They are no hiatus for now.

BB Cream, Remedy Pen, and Base and Top Coat all work great and will be purchasing it again at a later time.

 BB Cream and Powder Foundation

Smashbox BB Camera Ready:  My shade  is light/neutral. Camera Ready goes on cool, settles to a semi-matte finish, and gives up to medium coverage.

It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation:  This is my first purchase from It Cosmetics. I don’t understand the shade finding of this product even though I used the QVC video guide. I decided to pick the medium shade. However, the medium was considerably light for my skin. I think I might need the Tan.

Benefit Cosmetics Fake-Up Undereye Hydrating Concealer 02 Medium 0.12 oz my second favorite concealer next the MAC Studio Fix Concealer. This concealer is perfect for contouring.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer is a liquid concealer and deposits too much product. My color is NC30. I squirt out a small amount for under the eyes and end up using the left over for my face.

Old formula and packaging of the Urban Decay Potion Primer. Urban Decay as a new formula and brush, and I do not like it at all. I personally feel my lids respond better to an eye shadow base instead of a primer.

  • Fake-Up Concealer
  • Camera Ready BB Cream

I’ve decided to try an “empties post.” In this post, I am sharing certain products I’ve used up and whether or not I plan to by them again.

Primers by Benefit and Tarte

      1. Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15 – Hour Primer 0.54 oz
      2. Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer 0.75 oz
      3. tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-Hr Perfecting Primer 1 oz

From these primers I may end up getting the Stay Flawless primer because it felt so good when I was applying it. Next to the MAC Prep + Prime, Stay Flawless is the second best primer that makes my skin feel great during application. Porefessional is alright. When I started using high end primers, I believe Porefessional was the second one I bought. I like Stay Flawless primer better. Tarte Clean Slate primer is good, basic, and clear.

4. the Cleanser

5. Base Coat

I use the Formula X The System with my nail routine. I have bought the kit twice but mainly use the nail color, Cleanser, and base coat (I don’t think the base coat is sold separately but is only with the kit). I am in love with the Cleanser and Base Coat because of how it makes my nails look bright and well polished. I feel the kit is worth the money.
