The PhotoBalm Powder Foundation acts a filter designed for photos to cover imperfections. I couldn’t swatch it because on me there really wasn’t that much to swatch. PhotoBalm is very light weight, smooth, and blends in perfectly with my other foundations. I noticed the powder did even out my skin and cover minor imperfections. PhotoBalm isn’t exactly full coverage but more medium and can double as a setting powder.

To add to my Kat Von D obsession is the Kat Von D Lock-It Powder Foundation Medium 53 0.31 oz/ 9 g ($35).

Packaging– Sturdy compact with a magnifying mirror

Type– Pressed Powder Foundation

Finish– Medium to full coverage matte with a yellow undertone.

I don’t like yellowy face makeup, but the yellow is not harsh and balanced out. I was able to turn the powder  full coverage by using a dry beauty sponge or a firm flat top powder brush. It works great to set under the eyes and face.

The Kat Von D Contour Palette is an exclusive to Sephora ($46). There are three highlighters and three sculpting shades. The Palette includes a simple face chart to contour different areas of the face.

I have labeled the palette to describe each section shade:

Shade 1 Highlight (Lucid) ; Shade 2 Contour (Sombre)

Shade 3 Highlight (Lyric) ; Shade 4 Contour (Shadowplay)

Shade 5 Highlight (Levitation) ; Shade 6 Contour (Subconscious)

The Shade + Light is my first contour palette. I didn’t know where to begin on choosing my palette because of the selection of contour palettes on the market. Shade + Light are free of the four biggest ingredients I like stay away from in makeup which are talc, mica, mineral oil, and parabens.  The palette does not create sharp or harsh contour lines. I noticed the highlighters have offered my skin warmth. I use all 6 shades for different things. I mainly contour my cheek bones.

The highlighters and contour shades are very generous in size. I’ve been using the Shade + Light loyally for over 5 months and still have plenty of product. The palette is sturdy and ideal for traveling.

The Shade + Light takes out most of the contouring guess work and is great for beginners.

Some of my loves from It Cosmetics, Colourpop, Zoya and Formulax, and NYX.

Face– It Cosmetics CC Illuminator and Colourpop Carry On Bronzer and Lunch Money Highlighter. When I wear all three together, I look very glowy and refreshed.

Nails– Zoya Tilly and Levi and Formulax Laws of Attraction. The shades are very sparkly and perfect for summer.

Lips– NYX Ombre Lip Duo in Ginger/Nutmeg. NYX Ombre Lip Duo is awesome. I’ve used it a few times and noticed  combined it looks mauve-brown. The color is so wearable and flattering with almost every makeup look, outfit, and for everyday use.

I am so glad I own the It Cosmetics CC Cream Illuminator.  Previously, I owned the Celebration Foundation Powder. In summary from the QVC website description, here are the main benefits I have found from personally using the foundation:

  • The coverage is concentrated. I needed two small pumps for all over my skin. The coverage is so good I didn’t have to pack on concealer. I personally feel concealer is optional.
  • I love the SPF50. As I am getting older, I am learning more and more the importance of SPF.
  • It covers my sunspots and dark circles.
  • My skin looks bright and refreshed.

Most CC creams on the market do not cover and are too sheer. This one is so unique and different. When I put this on, it has a nice citrus scent from all the natural fruit extracts. The foundation is not dewy. It has a matte finish with super fine specks of shimmer.

A Quick Review of the Brush

If It Cosmetics is ordered from QVC, the proper brushes are often included. To me is one of the best features she offers. The Heavenly Luxe Plush Paddle Brush is meant to be used with the CC Cream. The brush is full and wide with firm bristles.

The foundation is also found at Ulta. The foundation and brush can be purchased individually or as a set on QVC.

  • Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Peach Beach
  • Deluxe Bare Minerals Secret Radiance (limited edition kit)
  • Deluxe Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

I was never big on highlighters before I started using the trio above. I have been getting compliments on my skin about my “glow” when I wear makeup. It took my awhile to figure out why and remembered that I started wearing those products with my makeup more. I also contour with these products just a little bit.I’m experimenting with highlighters and bronzers again.

Too Faced Sweetheart Perfect Flush Blush

The flush blush is a trio of highlighters designed to work separately or together. I love the darker two colors on the bottom as a blush. On my skin, the blush works and haven’t had any problems.

 Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer

This is the deluxe size version I earned with the Sephora points rewards. This product is a bit difficult to swatch so I don’t have it.

I don’t know for sure if the bronzer is something I am willing to commit to just yet. My skin tone is warm with a lot of yellow undertone. Soliel Bronzer looks just fine to me except I am going to be careful with this one.

The Secret Radiance by Bare Minerals

I ended up with this product a few years back in a limited edition kit. I recently started wearing this more. I find Secret Radiance to be gorgeous. It is so barely there with the right amount of pigment and highlight. I wish this was sold separately.

Other highlighters I’ve used in the past:

  • NARS Orgasm Illuminator
  • Mac Mineralized Skin Finish

The NARS and MAC I don’t use anymore, but those were the first two highlighters I remember trying :).

Future highlights and bronzers I would like to try:

  • Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit
  • Urban Decay Naked Flushed
  • TheBalm Betty Lou Manizer
  • Hourglass Ambient lighting Palette (maybe)

Throughout the years, I have been using only a number of the top primers on the market. I don’t collect primers because I don’t need them all that much.

Becca is one of my newest beauty discoveries. I came across this line on HSN and bought Ombre Nudes Eye Palette and the Complexion Creme.

Both products are matte and highly pigmented. The ombre eye shadow palette are arranged from light to dark with the two darkest shades designed as brow fillers. The Creme is not heavy with a soft barely there dewy finish. The Becca foundation is tones down shine and very matte.

I think Becca is great in pigmentation and quality. As I started reviewing their line more, I noticed they have a small selection of pricey products.
