There is not alot of blog reviews on the NYX Lip Lingerie. Shade ranges are very 90s. If anyone is into very flat nudes, the Lip Lingerie has a fairly good selection.  I did not find the other shades too appealing, so I chose Embellishment and Satin Ribbon.

I am a major fan of the NYX lip products. Satin Ribbon and Embellishment would probably make a very nice ombre if worn together. I watched several swatch/review YT videos. I remember in a couple of the videos the girls said the wand was too large and the lighter shades left behind some cracks and patchiness. Sure enough, I experienced the same thing. I feel I would need a lip liner to even out the color.

  • Flat Shades. I am getting into very flat shades. Satin Ribbon and Embellishment are very weird colors I can’t describe.
  • They are comfortable even though they dry down matte. After one coat, they felt pretty good.
  • The want picks up a good amount of product.
  • The shades do not look like ‘death.’ The shades looked good with my skin tone and didn’t clash.

  • I had difficulty tracing my lips with the large wand. I used the end tip of the wand to trace my lips. It is too bad they didn’t make the wand smaller.
  • I did notice some cracks and patchiness mainly from Satin Ribbon.

The Lip Lingerie are very different to wear than what I’m used to. I’m not quite sure how I feel about these just yet or if I plan to get more colors.

To add to my Kat Von D obsession is the Kat Von D Lock-It Powder Foundation Medium 53 0.31 oz/ 9 g ($35).

Packaging– Sturdy compact with a magnifying mirror

Type– Pressed Powder Foundation

Finish– Medium to full coverage matte with a yellow undertone.

I don’t like yellowy face makeup, but the yellow is not harsh and balanced out. I was able to turn the powder  full coverage by using a dry beauty sponge or a firm flat top powder brush. It works great to set under the eyes and face.

I have loved using liquid lipsticks throughout 2016. Since they are heavier than traditional lip colors, I never thought I would like wearing them or find them comfortable. Liquid lipsticks are a cross between a gloss and lipstick, need at least one coat of color and no lip liner, and for the most part lasts double the amount of a traditional lip color. A few brands of liquid lipstick I like are Too Faced Melted, theBalm, Buxom, and Colourpop Ultra Satins.

Colourpop has changed the way I view eyeshadows. Their colors are far from boring and very edgy.  Colourpop Super Shock Shadows ($5) have an interesting formula often described as a dry cream pressed pigment. They can be applied with a finger or synthetic brush. I have short nails, so I can easily apply these with my finger and gently blend out with a brush the excess. I was disappointed with Partridge and can’t remember why I picked it in the first place. I’m trying to wear Partridge more except I can’t get into the color. So Quiche, Dare, and Muse are my favs. So Quiche and Bae look great together. The shadows do not crack or crease and feel like pure silk.

Nyx Prismatic Shadows ($6 depending on where they are sold) in Bewitched and Gilded (new colors). The Prismatic shadows are regular powder eye shadow with a metallic finish. They have a very silky formula with little fall out.

Urban Decay Moondust in Solstice ($21) is a pressed powder pigment shift with a reddish/brown base and multi chrome of lavender and light blue. It shows up great on the eye, but my skin color wasn’t allowing me to swatch.

Single eye shadows to me are easier to work with than full size palettes. In a sea of warm toned palettes that I can’t seem to get away from, I chose single eyeshadows that were different and easy to wear. These colors I selected have helped me get out of my shade rut of continuously wearing warm colors. Anyone interested in starting off with eyeshadow, I recommend the Colourpop and NYX depending on budget.

theBalm Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush ($21) is so far the best bronzer I’ve tried. Balm Desert is so flattering with the pinky nude undertone. I originally wanted to try Bahama Mama, but it looked too dark w/brown as its main undertone, so instead I chose the Balm Desert. It can also be worn as a blush. I remember searching for a pinky nude blush, and Balm Desert is close enough to what I wanted. Balm Desert has successfully performed its double duty as the perfect bronzer and blush.

theBalm Time Balm Concealer in shade light/medium ($18) is described as an anti-aging full concealer designed for dark circles and spots. Time Balm reminds me of a hybrid of the Mac Studio Concealer and Benefit Boi-ing. Studio Concealer and Boi-ing are drying and thicker, but Time Balm is more nourishing and smoother. Time Balm works better because it does not crack, crease, settle in the lines, and once it sets, it looks like second skin. I use the Time Balm as an eye base before eye shadow. For easy application, I would either use my finger, a wedged sponge, or a small concealer brush.

Charming liquid lipstick is my newest product from theBalm to try. Charming is supposed to be a dupe for Kat Von D Lolita. I did not find the liquid lipsticks to have a good shade selection.  The selection is more on the ’90s’ browns, reds, and a few vibrant muted shades.

As I am getting better knowledge of how to pick comfortable liquid lipsticks, Meet Matt(e) Hughes is by far the most comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve tried this year right next to Too Faced Melted and Colourpop Ultra Satin.

The formula is very soft, comfortable, and transfers slightly. It dries down to a light ‘hug-able’ (hugged my lips after it dried) matte finish. Since the formula is not completely transferable, it was easy to wipe off without tugging or leaving behind staining. After the first swipe, it had nice opacity, so I don’t feel I need a lip liner.

I am taking interest in the Burts Bees line. A lady introduced me to their 4 piece Essentials kit including lip balm, towelettes, deep pore mask, and deep pore cleansing cream for $14.99.  3 items except for the towelettes are full size.  My skin took a beating this summer with 90+ degree weather and still suffering. I needed to change up my routine for fall but didn’t want spend too much money on over priced skin care. Extracts are the main ingredients, and the scrub and cleanser have a citrus scent. I couldn’t find the set on the website. I bough mine at Target. The mask and cream cleanser were the two main essentials that attracted me to the kit. I view the towelettes (great because I’m going on a trip) and lip balm as bonuses.

Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream  makes a good makeup remover.

Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub- My skin felt refreshed and brightened. I don’t use scrubs as much as I should, so I can’t say too much on this one. The scrub has micro beads for exfoliating.

The scrub and cleanser are very rich and creamy, and they provide a ‘tingly’ feeling. If it matters, they have a creamy white base.

How I use them– First I use the cleanser. I apply a nickle amount on my skin, let it settle, and wipe it off. I repeat the same step with the scrub.

I am not going to spend too much time on the Lip Balm & Towelettes. I love having extra towelettes and lip balm for emergencies.

All the items are sold separately
